The whole medical field and all the experts are doing their best to control the disease. In such times, getting an alternative preventive way to prevent the infection and to help in symptomatic relief in the infection can be of great help to our nation and the world right now.

So in today's blog, we are going to talk about one such alternative way to prevent the Covid-19 infection and to help get over the major symptom of dropping down of the oxygen level or the SpO2 level due to Covid-19 infection.

Our Ayurvedic medicine has many substances that can be used to naturally boost the oxygen level in our body not just in normal conditions but also during the infection. Three major ingredients that can increase the oxygen level naturally are Camphor, Clove and Carom seeds.

So let us first discuss the origin and properties of these three magic Ayurvedic ingredients that help prevent Covid-19.

1) Camphor (Kapur)

Camphor or Kapur is an organic semi-translucent solid compound. It is scientifically known as Cinnamomum camphora. It can be obtained from at least 50 years old Cinnamomum camphora tree which secretes a waxy substance from its stem. The steam distillation process is used to obtain camphor oil from the stem of the tree. It is available in solid form as well as in oil form in the market.

Ayurveda of India has been using this magical ingredient for several ailments. Skin allergies, joint pains, chest congestion, skin rashes, stuffy nose, etc are the major problems for which camphor has been used as a medicine in Ayurveda for ages.

Since 2019, the Covid-19 pandemic is the greatest threat to mankind. It affects our respiratory tract and lungs. Camphor can be used in Covid-19 as preventive therapy due to the following properties
  • Camphor possesses anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • It is the most trusted ailment in respiratory problems like phlegm, cough, cold, and clearing nasal congestion.
  • Camphor oil is a key element in vaporizing rubs owing to its strong decongestant properties.
  • Inhaling camphor fragrance can clear the mucus and phlegm in the nasal tract, bronchi, and lungs.
  • It also induces sleep due to the regulated breathing process.
Thus dues to its medical properties, camphor can be used to avoid respiratory problems, promoting lung health and thus eventually regulating oxygen intake while inhaling, which will eventually lead to rising in SpO2 level or oxygen level in the body.

One more Ayurvedic ingredient that can work wonders in congestion and cough and help improve lung health is clove or laung. It is obtained from an evergreen tree known as Syzygium aromaticum. It is obtained from the flower buds of this tree and is available both in whole as well as ground forms.
